Plug and Play Single Chip 40 Gbps Transceiver
OptoPHY™ (LUX6004) is a single-chip, 40 Gbps snap-on pluggable optical transceiver. OptoPHY offers customers the flexibility and field replaceability of pluggable optical transceivers by interfacing to systems via a small form factor SlimStack™ connector.
40 Gigabit Long Reach
The OptoPHY optical transceiver subassembly contains four parallel fiber optic transceivers, each operating at data rates from 1 to 10.3125 Gbps and supporting a reach up to 4,000 meters over standard single mode fiber; the industry’s longest reach snap-on transceiver.
Maximum Density
By embedding both transmitters and receivers into a single small footprint package, OptoPHY delivers the industry’s leading space-density per Gbps. An optical connector is attached to OptoPHY via a short pigtail fiber cable, enabling users to place devices anywhere on the PCB board, eliminating the need for edge mounting. This design flexibility increases front panel connector density and improves system EMI performance.
Optics Manufactured at Wafer Scale
OptoPHY is built using Luxtera’s breakthrough Silicon CMOS Photonics technology, where complete optical transceivers are integrated on a single CMOS chip. The resulting lowest cost per gigabit solution delivers higher performance and higher reliability than traditional discrete component VCSEL-based optics.
Performance and Flexibility
By utilizing Silicon Photonics technology, OptoPHY delivers best in class performance in terms of low latency, low bit error rate, long reach, small cable bend radius, high reliability and small footprint. By eliminating constraints associated with copper cables and traditional VCSEL optics, OptoPHY enables flexible layouts at the PCB and data center levels.
