Optical Test Engineer
Responsibilities
- Characterize optical and optoelectronic devices

Run production wafer testing
- Run wafer-level optical and electrical engineering testing
- Maintain and improve test equipment and processes
- Run periodic maintenance and calibration according to schedule
- Troubleshoot and correct equipment problems

Work experience requirements
- Experience with automated test of electronic or optoelectronic components

- Possesses a quality-oriented mindset and attention to details
- Familiarity with Labview programming is a plus
Education Requirements
- B.S. or equivalent

Sr. Supply Chain Manager
Summary
Raw materials are a major component and improvements managing raw material sourcing and associated working capital, and optimization of supply and inventory will dramatically affect the company’s bottom line.
The Sr. Supply Chain Manager will manage all raw material sourcing, supply and inventory aspects of the company. This manager will be responsible and accountable for developing, directing and improving current processes involving supplier selection of raw materials and outside services, materials-production planning and inventory control.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Sourcing/ Pricing
- Work with senior management team in determining the strategic purchasing direction and proper inventory levels, based upon current market dynamics, for the company.
- Working with the design team to influence selection and secure Source raw materials to meet cost, supply and quality requirements in the most effective and efficient way possible. Balance high volume stock purchases against small transactional purchases to assure best material availability for manufacturing.
- Establish and Maintain business relationships with supply base to assure expectations and deliverables are aligned and proactively managed for best delivery and pricing available in support of growth plans.
- Work with suppliers to establish standard lead times, expedited delivery schedules, tier pricing for volume or special purchases.
- Review and resolve certification issues between customer, sales, supplier and quality.
- Ensure all related activities comply with all relevant compliance standards both commercial and environmental.
Supply Chain Visibility and Inventory Control:
- Establish using industry known best practices inventory planning and optimization programs with supporting critical success indicators and goals.
- Maintain real time delivery of small lot and special order materials.
- Work closely with production control to assure manufacturing and customer demands are met.
- Provide data, reports and analysis as required to support Supply Chain, Finance and Corporate requests for information relative to excess and obsolescence, inventory, categorization and controls.
- Control internal and offsite inventories that are managed by suppliers.
- Plan and implement recovery system to assure that all defective material is reported and returned to supplier for credit and corrective action.
Supplier Management
- Develop a “qualified supplier” process and develop supply base to support rapid and long term growth.
- Establish approved supplier list for outside services.
- Maintain supplier performance data including delivery, lead time, quality and certifications.
- Verify outside testing methods and services are consistent and compliant with customer requirements.
- Report late or incorrect deliveries and the impact on manufacturing and customer deliveries.
- Maintain regular supplier performance data and reporting system. Prepare and mail regular supplier performance reports.
- Maintain supplier quality reports, up to date ISO compliance and procedures and material certifications and test data.
Qualifications
- Previous experience of at least 5 years as a commodity leader in SCM or equivalent in the electronics or silicon industries.
- BS degree required; MS preferred or equivalent experience.
- Experience in negotiating and implementing pricing contracts.
- Working knowledge of leading edge manufacturing and supply chain techniques, including Lean, Kaizen, and APICS training strongly preferred.
- Strong communications skills with the ability to establish the necessary influence internally and externally to achieve the desired results across the supply chain.
- Import/Export Experience and Knowledge a plus.

Director, Quality
Summary
The Director of Quality is responsible for establishing an effective and lean Quality Operating System within the company spanning from supplier management back through to product design and all related areas across that supply chain. Building on an existing strong quality culture this role will be focused on embedded best known practices with the specific intent of increasing the effectiveness of the company as it relates to flawless execution to agreed norms and standards. This person will be the customer’s strongest advocate into Luxtera and Luxtera’s strongest advocate into the supply base in all matters relating to quality. Quality is owned by everyone at Luxtera; this role will champion that ownership in terms of the development of the required systems and subsequent deployment of them.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement an overall quality strategy that supports & meets organizational strategy, performance objectives & customer expectations.
- Establish a quality systems management program targeted at our supply base including audit programs, performance feedback methods and effective closed loop corrective action management as needed.
- Using industry best practices complete a gap analysis of current company quality systems (MRB, Change Control, acceptance criteria..); develop with internal stakeholders to prioritize gap closing actions aligned to risk mitigation and positively impacting total product cost( scrap/yield/waste).
- Working with Sales and Marketing and Engineering to establish mutual quality expectations with the customer base and thereafter being the champion of meeting those commitments within the company.
- Stay current with all regulatory standards for US and International markets and determine applicable standards for Front Row products.
- Work to set and achieve product yield goals in collaboration with the suppliers and other Directors.
- Ability to drive quality improvement with suppliers.
Qualifications
- Extensive relevant experience in the silicon /electronics manufacturing industry with 7+ years experience and a proven track record in the main job attributes.
- First hand and hands on experience of developing and implementing quality systems programs and associated sustaining management programs.
- Relevant Degree/Masters and formal training in engineering and quality.
- Supplier management experience as it relates to quality programs and closed loop systems

Photonic Design Engineer
General Description
- Works as part of a team of photonic product engineers dedicated to improving Luxtera’s technology platform.
- Designs, lays out, and validates photonic components, process control structures and integrated optoelectronic circuits.
- Defines test plans and tests optical/electrical performance of components and subsystems.
- Identifies process improvements to increase the system performance of optoelectronic components.
- Supports continuous improvement projects of silicon photonics products.
- Works closely with Electronics and Packaging design teams to identify component and system design trade-offs.
Work experience requirements
- In depth knowledge of integrated optics
- Experience with semiconductor device modeling and optical modeling (FDTD, beam propagation) software tools
- Experience with CAD tools for layout (Cadence)
- Experience with standard optical test equipment (tunable lasers, detectors, optical spectrum analyzers)
- Knowledge of microwave measurement techniques desirable
- Knowledge of analog electronics and feedback control systems desirable
- Experience performing optical transmission link characterization a plus
- Must be a team player with excellent written and oral communication skills and creativity in problem-solving
Education Requirements

Process Design Engineer
Summary
The Process Engineer position will assume ownership of select assembly processes with a focus on sustaining current production lines as we prepare for volume ramp up and work toward continuous process improvements.
General Description
- Process development and support of micron-level die pick and place for wafer level packing processes
- Design and conduct experiments to optimize alignment methodology, repeatability, reliability and increase yields, present results and associated recommendations to the technical team.
- Set up and qualify the assembly line for production release. Including the implementation of process controls and tracking and analysis of statistical process control metrics
- Create and maintain process documents such as work instructions, engineering specifications, acceptance procedures and control documents.
- Identify and drive ongoing improvements with the assembly team and technical design team.
Work Experience
- 5+ years in a semiconductor assembly and/or test manufacturing environment – with >3 years in the micro-electronic packaging using automated equipment.
- Good understanding of machine vision , controls and sensors as it pertains to automated equipment
- Experience with eutectic reflow soldering, wire bonding and/or epoxy die attach us desired
- Statistical analysis techniques DOE’S, Gage Studies, SPC
- Strong problem solving skills matched with proven ability to work independently with the assembly team.
- Direct High volume manufacturing experience would be desirable and an asset to this role
- Familiarity with micro-optics plus would be a plus.

High-Speed IC Design Engineer
General Description
Responsible for design, layout, verification, and characterization of high-speed optical transceiver elements, TIAs, limiting amplifiers, I/Os, equalizers, high-speed CML, ring-oscillators, and other SerDes/CDR/PLL building blocks at data rates of 10Gb/s and higher. Will work as a part of a small IC design team in dynamic startup environment, taking an active role in design reviews, contributing to product definition, proposing and evaluating technical solutions, writing design specifications and test requirement documents, etc.
The ideal candidate is a results-oriented self-starter able to develop design specifications based on input from marketing, system architect, manufacturing, etc. and to take projects to completion with limited supervision and guidance, effectively managing his time and effort.
Education & Experience Requirements
- M.S.E.E. with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience
- Must have extensive experience with high-speed circuit design and layout in sub-micron CMOS (65nm or below is a plus) at data rates of at least 5Gb/s and/or RF circuits operating at 5GHz or above, taken from concept through production
- Solid understanding of MOS devices backed by semiconductor physics fundamentals
- Experience with design of analog and mixed-signal feedback control systems in the context of high-speed transceivers
- Experience with precision analog and mixed-signal circuits is a plus
- Proficient with Cadence design environment including Ocean scripting and mixed-signal simulations
- Working knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of passive electro-magnetic structures including transmission lines, spiral inductors, resonant circuits, etc. (HFSS experience is a plus)
- Good understanding of high-speed layout considerations, such as parasitics, crosstalk isolation, supply and bias distribution, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to test, troubleshoot, and characterize own designs
- Fundamentals of IC manufacturing, reliability, yield, DFM, DFT, etc.
- Demonstrated excellent problem solving skills
- Must be willing to assume responsibility for a wide variety of technical tasks
