Luxtera Named Finalist for EE Times ACE Awards Carlsbad, CA January 23, 2007 – Luxtera Inc., the world leader in CMOS photonics, today announced that it has been selected by EE Times as a finalist for “Startup Company of the Year” for its 2007 Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) awards. The EE Times ACE Awards recognize the electronics industry’s creators of technology who demonstrate cutting-edge breakthroughs, innovation and leadership. Luxtera’s breakthrough CMOS Photonics technology integrates high-performance photonics and mainstream electronics on a single die, which along with flip-chip integrated lasers brings fiber connectivity directly to the chip. Luxtera is currently sampling prototypes to development partners and the company will launch a commercial transceiver product line based on this underlying technology in 2007 – years ahead of the competition. Future applications will extend to chip-to-chip and intra-chip optical connectivity. “We are proud to announce Luxtera as a Finalist for the EE Times ACE Awards,” said Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EE Times. “Luxtera's innovation is clearly making its mark in the photonics market. There are boundless possibilities in using their disruptive technology in actual applications.” “It’s a tremendous honor to be chosen from the hundreds of companies considered for this prestigious award,” said Alex Dickinson, co-founder, president and CEO of Luxtera. “Luxtera is a company on the forefront of the photonics industry. Our objective is to disrupt the legacy world of copper interconnect, and nomination for this award is a testament to our ongoing success in meeting that objective.” The Startup of the Year award goes to a venture capital start-up electronics manufacturing company that demonstrates excellence in business development and/or technology development processes with the potential to become a technical or market leader in the global electronics industry. The winners will be announced at the EE Times ACE Awards Gala at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel on April 3, 2007, as part of the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley.
