Luxtera names Edward P. (Ted) Holtaway Senior Vice President of Operations Carlsbad, Calif., March 15, 2006 – Luxtera Inc., a fabless semiconductor company and the world leader in silicon photonics, today announced that it has named Edward (Ted) P. Holtaway its new Senior Vice President of Operations, effective February 27, 2006. Holtaway is a 26-year industry veteran who has held leadership positions with a number of fabless semiconductor companies in the industry. “Ted Holtaway is ideally suited to lead Luxtera’s operations as we move into the high production phase of the company this year,” said Alex Dickinson, Co-founder, President, & CEO of Luxtera. “His unique experience in managing both sophisticated optical and high volume semiconductor manufacturing operations will apply directly to the needs at Luxtera as we bring the world’s first integrated CMOS photonics chips to high volume production.” Ted was the former executive vice president of corporate operations for Cymer, the world's leading supplier of excimer light sources for lithography. Prior to that, he served as Cymer's Executive Vice President of the Lithography System Solutions group since October 2002. Previously, he served as senior vice president of operations and business process management from May 2000 until October 2002. He joined Cymer in July 1998 as senior vice president of process quality. Prior to joining Cymer, Holtaway spent 13 years with San Diego-based Brooktree Corp., a fabless semiconductor company acquired by Rockwell Semiconductor Systems in September 1996. During his tenure, Holtaway's executive posts included director of Rockwell's San Diego operations from 1997 to 1998, vice president and managing director of Brooktree's Singapore operations from 1995 to 1996, and vice president of corporate quality from 1989 to 1995. Holtaway holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York, and a master's degree in business administration from San Diego State University. “I am excited to join the Luxtera team,” said Ted Holtaway, Senior Vice President of Operations for Luxtera. “Luxtera’s products will completely disrupt the datacom industry by enabling the transition from copper to optical fiber interconnect..
