Luxtera Presents Paper at ISSCC 2006 Describing the World’s First Practical CMOS Photonics Platform

San Francisco, CA, February 6, 2006 - Luxtera Inc., a fabless semiconductor company and the world leader in silicon photonics, announced today that it will present a paper at the International Solid State Circuit Conference (ISSCC 2006) describing the monolithic integration of photonic and electronic components operating at 10Gb/s in a production CMOS process.

The International Solid-State Circuits Conference is a global forum for presentation of advances in solid-state circuits and systems-on-a-chip. The conference constitutes a unique opportunity to present revolutionary products and technologies that will keep the industry on track with Moore’s law.
“Our innovative CMOS Photonics platform allows us to embed high performance optical communication blocks within conventional CMOS circuits,” said Cary Gunn, CTO of Luxtera. “We have developed the complete suite of technology required to accelerate the industry’s adoption of optical interconnects using a conventional CMOS process.”

“Until now, publications on the integration of photonics with silicon have been in the realm of “interesting science.” The presentation of our ground-breaking designs in such a prestigious forum focused on practical advances in circuits is an independent affirmation that Luxtera’s technology is ready for broad industry adoption,” said Alex Dickinson, president and CEO of Luxtera.

Dr. Andrew Huang, principal engineer at Luxtera, will present the paper at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2006, in session 13.7 at the San Francisco Marriott.
